I still owe Dylan a review, but more work has shortened up my time so I can only ask a question.
There are a lot of stuff coming out of the OSR these days, but even with all this activity what type(s) of products would you like to see more of? What area do you see lacking?
Apropos of my post today, maybe things on historical eras/non-Euro settings (and I don't mean completely fantastic like post-apoc)? People in the blogosphere have certainly mentioned or worked on things and that area, but nothings really come out.
I'd like to see bolder explorations away from the base concepts of the early products. True to the spirit of the old materials maybe, but also reflecting the natures of those materials as they were in the context of their time. Where are the materials that are to the world today what D&D and its supplements were to the world then?
Echoing both the fine gentlemen above, I'd like to see more alternate settings/backgrounds - taking the game away from its traditional pseudo-Medieval setting and adapting the rules to these new environments.
Although I do think sometimes it's a dead horse, I'm going to say steampunk. If done right it's sufficiently different enough from post-apocalypse to merit it's own source books. I guess by that I mean the background of the weird science gadgets etc. are coming from different directions. In post-apoc it's being rediscovered. In steampunk it's being invented and tested.
I've been thinking about this lately and based on some informal research and searching around the internet I've seen a lot of folks asking for more settings and adventures. There's a general consensus that there are plenty of retro-clone rules and we really don't need more. Personally, I'd like to see more settings that break away from the high fantasy/Tolkien mold.
I'd echo everyone above. More settings outside the typical medieval Europe. How about a Napoleaonic era fantasy? How about something in the Age of Exploration? Those are Euro-centric but really haven't been expounded upon as much as they could be. I'm working on creating a sort of Jack Kirbyesque/Steve Ditko/Mike Mignola inspired mashup setting that combines some of the themes I've mentioned along with Kirby's cosmic sweep and Ditko's strangeness. Throw in a bit of pulp era fantaist/strange tales writers and some 1930's-80's horror and sci-fi movies and that's what I want to see.
I appreciate the gonzo direction Raggi has taken with some of his modules. In fact, I'd like to see him push it even more.
I also like what I hear about Google+ (even though I haven't jumped on that particular bandwagon yet).
What's missing? I have no idea because I can't possibly get around to all the awesome gaming products! Seriously, just trying to keep up with OSR cannon is a near-full time job!

P.S. That's a good thing.
