Starter Adventures is Here

I finished Starter Adventures. It's a series of eight very small one or two encounter adventures to help teach someone the basics of the game. I wrote these after gaming with my wife for the first time. So a big thanks goes out to her. Let me know if you have problems downloading the file. This is the first time I've attempted this so I am sure I screwed something up.

Download Starter Adventures here.

  3. Really Nice. I may even get a little use of of it soon. I have a couple of buddies coming in. They are experienced gamers but unfamiliar with some Old School gaming.

Now I have a "swamp hunt" scenario I use for the same sort of thing with groups . Since you inspired me maybe I ought to write it up

  4. These are great Tim! I love minidungeons - high portability and great for a pickup game. Thanks for sharing. :)

  6. Very cool.

When are we going to be graced with more blog posts from your wife? Dramatic improvement when you added her and that Rusty guy as guests to your blog. Dramatic. :-)

  8. I wrote a review of this for Zak S' recent blog topic:

Would You Like To Be Helpful?

But, after I posted it there, he deleted it. Sorry.

But, now, I've posted it in four other places:

    http://www.lotfp.com/RPG/discussion/topic/222/review-of-starter-adventures-by-tim-shorts/

    http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=52044

    http://www.enworld.org/forum/d-d-legacy-discussion/312288-review-starter-adventures-tim-shorts.html

And at RPG.net, where it hasn't been accepted & made public yet, but should be in about a week.

  9. RPGnet sent me the following message:

Your review of Starter Adventures has not been accepted for publication at RPGnet. Even though the product is short, your review is too brief for our publishing needs.

If you'd like to expand and resubmit your review, we'd be happy to consider it again.

So I did expand & resubmit my review to them. We'll see what happens this time.

  10. Hey Ed, thanks for the support. When I get the new version completed I intend to put out another free version with the art work and maps and those edits you mention. Appreciate the effort.

  11. You're welcome!

Will the new version be available also in print form from someplace like Lulu?

Would you like me to send you a list of the typos I found in the current version? Or will the new version be so different that wouldn't help you with it any?

  12. What I plan to do is release the same encounters that are included in the first one for free on a PDF. The new one will include the maps, art and proper edits. Then the full version which will include the double the encounters, a tavern, adventure, new monster and magic items and that one I plan to sell in PDF and print on RPGNow and Lulu.
