Mail Call!

Yesterday was a giant smelly turd of a day. This week is turning into a pile of them. Readjusting to the third version of normal in 6 months. Maybe I'm suffering from normal fatigue. The floodgates have been opened and wow, now I want to go on a three month lockdown. However, my mail saved my day. Let me show you what I got. Be prepared to be jealous and cry. 

I'm starting off with Titan Dice. Over-sized, 25mm, dice that come in a cool wooden box. Here's the weird thing, they were sent to me in January and I got them today. Someone must have selected the expedited 6 month shipping option. The other weird thing is I already have the exact same set. I'm cool with that though. Dice are dice and I'll make my 1's larger. I got these great coins from a site called Dice Dungeons. I hadn't heard of them before. I think I found them when I was scrolling through Intagram one night. They have a bunch of different coins. I grabbed the horde and zombie packs. There were five in each. The horde pack came with 3 goblin and orc coins and the zombie horde came with 5 coins. I love weird fantasy style coins. Especially when you're playing a face-to-face came and some NPC offers a 100sp to help save Timmy because he fell down the well, and then throw a pouch with a 100 coins on the table. You get a much better reaction than saying it. The weight of them hitting the table and the sound of the coins sliding over one another has a visceral effect. 

Oh yeah, I love me everything about Thieves World. This is one of the biggest holes in my gaming collection is the FASA books. They've been elusive because I forget about them or when I do look for them they are very expensive. I fell into these two on eBay for $25. They are just a fun read. I get flashbacks to the books pouring over the details of the S'danzo or strolling through the Maze or hearing about the Hell Hounds. This is my gaming gold. Have two of them now. Traitor and The Blue Camel are still missing. The latter maybe difficult to land because it was a promo item. Just checked eBay for a copy, $175 and $56.46. A bit too rich for me. 

So now you see how my day was saved by a good mail day. 

Gifts at the Manor

I'm not sure if you know, but it's Christmas.  I heard it on the news somewhere.  I wanted to show you the very cool stuff the wife got me.  Some of the gaming stuff I knew, because with gaming books, its sorta like her cooking stuff, its just better to let the person pick it out so you can get the right one.  Speaking of which...

I got my DMG finally!  I will spend some quality time with it during the weekend.

I got the final book of the Green Ronin's version of Thieves World.  This is one I've been wanting to get for a long time.  Recently found it on-line for a good price, snagged it, then thanked Ivy for her savvy shopping and getting me exactly what I wanted.

I got two sets of Micron pens, the different sized black and some colored ones.  Many of the big map makers swear by them.  Ivy remembered and here they are.  Then she got me two other sets of pencils I'm very curious to use.  Watercolor pencils?!?  Apparently you can use them like normal pencils, but add a little water and I guess they become water color paint kinda sorta.  The last batch are brush markers.  They have very fine tips.  I am super excited to try these on my maps.  My artistic ability is very limited so I hope to have enough chops to use them for cool effect.

And lastly....

I got another BIG ASS PRINTER.  Looks like a spaceship.  This badass does edge-to-edge printing AND can print full spread, up to 13" x 19", which means I could do a full sized Manor.  So far so good.  We'll see how it performs when I give it a full workout.

Christmas at the Manor was a huge success.  Ivy did incredible.  I feel like a kid with all these new toys.  We've been very frugal over the past 4 to 5 years, but this year we decided to just have fun with it and we did. 

Here's my new printer next to my other printer.  Both will be used, but my shredder is now homeless.

Gaming Week Just Got Better

Last night Rob from Bat in the Attic blog, came over and we did an old school trade. I gave him the Greyhawk Folio and maps for Chaosium's Thieves' World Box set. This is one of those gaming gems I've been looking for for many years. So I am excited to finally add it to my collection and use it in the future. They Greyhawk setting I have never been much of a fan. The maps are great and luckily I had an extra set of those (have no idea where I got them from), but the folio I never used and because of its odd size was a pain in the butt to store on my shelf.

Always being a lurker in the free stuff over at RPGNow, I found this very cool adventure called Orc Hunt from Tabletop Armory developed for the Pathfinder system. The adventure is only two pages long and there is no map and because of the situation presented a GM can easily plug it in damn near anywhere in his campaign world. I won't go into details because you should go download it for yourself. It's free remember.

Yesterday I wrote about the White Box and provided pictures of what is included. Today I wanted to do a short review on the adventure that is included, The Vile Worm of the Eldritch Oak. Love that title. Sounds like Roger Corman should be making the film. The map is great like I said yesterday. All around this a cool little adventure that is easily plugged in anywhere. I won't go into any details,so as not to spoil any surpirses. But when you get your White Box (not if you should) you're going to be pleased with this little addition.

And finally, I guess Alex and all the judges will be announcing the winners of the One-Page Dungeon Contest. So I am looking forward to see if I placed of not. Either way there are a ton of good adventures to use now because of this contest.
